Dry Herb Vaporizer FAQ
What is a dry herb vaporizer?
Dry herb vaporizers differ from liquid vaporizers in that they're designed to heat solid substances like wax or, as the name implies, ground dry herbs. The desired substance is heated to a user-selected temperature and the essence of the herb is extracted without causing it to burn or emit smoke.
Why would I choose a dry herb vaporizer?
Herb connoseurs who want to limit their exposure to the thousands of toxic compounds, including dozens of carcinogens found in smoke may prefer vaporization as a way to toke without these harsh irritants. Dry herb vaporizers provide all the essential benefits without the undesired byproducts of smoke.
Are dry herb vaporizers easy to clean?
Most dry herb vaporizers have chambers, or "ovens," that can be removed for cleaning. But since herbs are heated instead of burned, there's no smoke or tar residue to build up, and a greatly reduced amount of resin or other wasted herb. When used exclusively with ground herbs, a quick brushing and wipe-down between sessions should be enough to keep you vaping clean.
What's the difference between dry herb vaporizers and other vaporizers?
Most vaporizers, "vapes," or "e-cigs" are designed for vaporizing liquid either with nicotine in a water based form or with an hebal extract in an oil based form. Both of these involve a separate heating element and liquid chamber, whereas a dry herb vaporizer is typically a single unit. Dry herbs and concentrates cannot be vaporized using a liquid device, nor can liquids typically be heated using a dry herb vaporizer.
How much does it take to fill a dry herb vaporizer?
The oven size of a dry herb vaporizer will vary, but most will hold between 0.5 and 1.0 grams of ground material. Choose a smaller oven size if your vaporizer will be mostly for personal use and a larger one if you plan on sharing it with friends, as you won't want to over- or under-pack your vaporizer. Too much material means there won't be enough airflow for proper vaporization, while too little can lead to burning.
Do vaporizers provide the full effect of smoking?
Yes - you'll still receive all of the essential elements of your plant or concentrate, just without the tar and other byproducts of smoke. As an added benefit, you'll taste more of your product's natural flavor since it won't be burned off during the combustion process.
